I just installed Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS, running kernel 2.6.32-24-server, on a brand new Dell T110 server, supposedly fully compatible with Ubuntu Server.
Stack Exchange Network. USB device unknown, not migrated, configured (null), cannot specify driver. Was configured. Driver Name: null' which means it has no. I was trying to write a pci driver which can display the MAC address of my Ethernet card. Running a Ubuntu on VM and my Ethernet card is Intel one as follows 00:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 02). When Windows boots it finds an ethernet controller, but can't seem to locate a driver for it. When I attempt to install vmware tools it starts normally then when 'preparing for install' I get a message saying it cannot continue because Windows is either in safe mode or the Windows Installer is not properly installed. Follow the steps to identify your Ethernet controller and determine the latest adapter available. Identify Your Wired IntelĀ® Ethernet Adapter and Driver Version. [in] interface: Underlying network interface [in] buffer: Multi-part buffer containing the data to send [in] offset: Offset to the first data byte. I re-installed windows 7, and now I'm unable to connect to the internet via Ethernet cable. I checked device manager and saw that I'm missing the drivers for Ethernet controller. I have two NICs: one ONBOARD, the other additional on PCI.both of them are Broadcom netXtreme 5572. on the first boot of the system, I could see both cards as eth0 and eth1 (with ifconfig)I configured eth0 as static IP (as planned), and did not configure eth1. after rebooting, one of the two NICs 'disappeared': it does not appear in ifconfig at all. the one that disappeared is the ONBOARD one. I investigated a bit and found the following things: the card is SEEN, but not 'installed', it appears as 'UNCLAIMED' in lshw: so I checked my dmesg and found a few strange lines, showing, there actually is a problem bringing up this card: Colours jason derulo mp3 download. that actually shows that one NIC is recognized, the other is not. I researched a bit more, with lspci -v:

Ethernet Controller Driver Configured Null ErrorI've researched everything I could on the net, and found out several people having slightly comparable issues, but they usually involve different HW, and do not provide a proper explanation / solution.. I would appreciate if anyone around here has some info to share ! thanks

assuming that the module is built into the kernel you could do: modprobe bnx2

I shutdown the box, and removed the PCI NIC. restarted: the onboard NIC was recognized & installed (as eth1). I configured it to what I want it to be configured to eventually (DHCP). Dfd old boy jon download. confirmed connectivity. note: the MAC address was not null anymore ! I then re-plugged the PCI NIC, brought up the system again: both NICs are now visible & installed ! I have no idea what happened. problem is solved, but I'm clueless.. Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver
